PROGRAMS


The Library will bring the world to you and inspire personal growth and enhance your life. Resource collections include both print and electronic books, audio-books, magazines, journals, music and movies. The Library is also where you can check out items from the Lending Locker and rent DVDs, Audio Books and CDs. iPads and PS3s are available to use at the Library too. Free online resources are accessible 24/7 through our website.

Children ages 10-18 must present an ID card at the front desk. Children under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult supervisor.

LIBRARY CATALOG

Registration is open to active duty, DOD civilians, JMSDF, MLC, IHA, retirees and their family members. Items may be checked out using a library card issued at registration or your ID card. Borrowing period for all items is three weeks. Patrons are allowed one three week renewal per item. Each Account is allowed the following:

UNLIMITED BOOKS AND MAGAZINES

  • Maximum of ten CDs, Audio Books, PlayAways, DVDs
TRANSPARENT LANGUAGE ONLINE

Learn Japanese or one of 80 other languages from home or anywhere you go. All you have to do is ask the Library for login information.

ROSETTA STONE LANGUAGE LEARNING

Available for in-library use to learn Japanese, Spanish and Mandarin.

JAPANESE CULTURAL SECTION

Language books, audio books, travel, cultural material and more available for check out!

UNITED THROUGH READING

Record a DVD of yourself reading a book to share with your children while you are deployed. We provide the recording equipment, the DVD and a selection of books that you can give to your child. This program is available to servicemembers who are either in the middle of, or preparing, for a deployment. Please call the Library to arrange an appointment.

MARINE READERS ARE LEADERS

Marines who read a book from the Commandant’s Reading List can enter a monthly drawing for a ten dollar MCX gift certificate. Please stop by the Library to fill out an entry form or check out our Marine Corps Professional Reading Program section.

TEEN READERS ARE LEADERS

Teens ages 13-18 can enter this monthly drawing for a ten dollar MCX gift certificate by simply reading one book during the month. Please stop by the Library to receive an entry form.

Check out Mo and take him with you on your travels! Share your photos of Mo with the Library and discover all of the unique places Mo has visited.

TRANSPARENT LANGUAGE ONLINE

Britannica provides math, science and social studies publications online, in e-books, and on mobile devices. Britannica is resourceful for both children and adults. Encyclopedia Britannica includes: Britannica Online; Annals of American History; Spanish Reference Center and World Data Analysis.

MORNINGSTAR

Morningstar is a financial research database, which may be used to analyze stocks, mutual funds, and exchange traded funds (ETFs). You can also read Morningstar’s data reports and analyst reports, and you can analyze how specific stocks and funds might work together in a portfolio.

AUTO REPAIR REFERENCE CENTER

This resource contains repair and maintenance information on most major manufacturers of domestic and imported vehicles. New repair procedures, TSBs and updates are added on a regular basis.

SMALL ENGINE REPAIR REFERENCE CENTER

Small Engine Repair Reference Center offers assistance in providing routine maintenance (tune-ups, brake service, etc.) as well as extensive repairs (engine and transmission dis-assembly) and allows users to search by product type, brand, model type, engine type and model numbers. PDF including full text is available for all documents.

CAREER TRANSITIONS

Career Transitions is an online career guidance center that walks users through the job-search process from beginning to end.

Overdrive: Check out these audio & eBooks just like you would through a Library! Files can be downloaded for 7 to 30 days and then they will automatically be returned. File formats are available for Kindle, Adobe ePub (Nook & others), and audio formats. Contact the Library if you need help downloading an eBook. Users will need to create an NKO account the first time they access this resource.

GALE VIRTUAL REFERENCE LIBRARY

Download and keep these eBooks. Gale has many Rough Guide travel books you can take with you in your travels, as well as many books on other subjects.

EBSCO HOST

eBooks are available for check out just like in a Library. Search for titles on many different subjects from careers and nutrition to literature and education. Contact the Library for access information and then create your personal account.

FREEGAL MUSIC

Download free songs and music videos each week for your personal collection courtesy of your Library. Freegal music is free and legal and allows you to download popular music as MP3s and videos as MP4s to your computer, phone or other portable device. Registration is open to all Library patrons in good standing, so call or stop by to set up your account today.

ZINIO MAGAZINES

Download the current issue of your favorite magazines for free and read them on your computer, eReader, tablet or phone! Zinio magazines are identical to the print editions and each issue remains in your personal account as long as the Library subscription lasts. Registered Library patrons can call or stop by to sign up for their account.

Mondays, 10 AM, Children’s Room

For children ages 3 and up and their parent or caregiver. Enjoy books, songs, activities and more, while building early literacy skills.

Tuesdays, 9:15 AM, Children’s Room

For children from birth to 15 months and their parent or caregiver. Fun for you and your baby with songs, rhymes, stories and movement.

2nd & 4th Thursday, 10 AM, Storytime Room

A preschool storytime that can be enjoyed by all children, but is especially welcoming for children who find it challenging to participate in a large group or are prone to sensory overload to participate in storytime.
