S.M.A.R.T Goals

For some, a new year means committing to new goals. One of the biggest parts of deciding how to make smart New Year’s resolutions is choosing the right resolution for you, your goals, your life, and your capacity to take on new or extra things. Try to utilize S.M.A.R.T goals to increase your chances of success: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely.

S- Specific

Your resolutions must be specific and should answer several of the following questions:
• Who?
• What?
• When?

M- Measurable

You must be able to quantify whether or not you are making progress towards your goal.

A-Achievable

This is where the understanding of your personal capacity to take on a new project, goal, or dream comes in. You must truly understand when a goal is simply unachievable. Setting an achievable goal is key to your success.

R- Realistic

Realistic resolutions are closely related to achievable resolutions. If your goal is not realistic, you are less likely to follow through.

T- Timely

Give yourself a timeline so you have an immediate urgency helping propel you forward.
2020 will be remembered as an overwhelming and mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially draining year. Setting a path for the upcoming year can help you stay focused and give you something to strive for. Setting goals is also an effective way to increase motivation and to help you to create the changes you want.
